前言

　　讀書是一輩子的事,讀書應該成為一種生活方式。多年來，我們為營造良好的讀書氛圍而不遺余力。清晨，我們下到每一個班，與同學們一起早讀，瑯瑯書聲終日不絕于校園……然而，既得讀書真味，又結合學生實際的讀本卻始終遍尋不得。我們決心為自己的學生編一個中英文對照的讀本。
　　該書編選要求是：古今中外詩歌、散文、詞、曲名篇均可入選；文質兼美，便于記誦；思想積極、健康；篇幅適宜（不宜過長）；篇目共100篇，其中詩歌40首，詞曲30首，散文30篇。根據這些要求，我們查閱了大量的資料，終于精選并翻譯了100篇詩文詞曲。全書分為詩歌精萃、詞曲精萃、散文精萃，編寫體例為：原文，譯文，作者介紹以，注釋，解讀。其中詩歌部分由凌運良和謝昌翌同志負責，詞曲部分由李愛平同志負責，散文部分由李永紅同志負責，英語翻譯由諶桃香同志負責。最后校對、統稿、編排工作由李愛平、李永紅、諶桃香三位同志負責。
　　該書在選編過程中，得到了我校黨委書記、校長晏云霞同志和主管教學的副校長周京平同志的指導，得到了李杰、劉夢龍同志的大力支持。在此我們一并向他們表示誠摯的感謝。
　　由于我們平時教學工作繁忙，加上時間倉促，水平有限，該書難免會存在錯漏之處，我們懇請讀者予以批評、指正。

　　Reading accompanies one’s whole life and should become a part of one’s life style.Foryears, we have been trying our best to provide our students a good reading atmosphere. Each morning, we go to every classroom to do morning reading so that reading aloud is heard all over the campus. But no reading material which is of flavor and based on the students is found. So we are determined to compile a ChineseEnglish reader.
　　The criteria for compiling are as follows. From the famous poems, proses, Ci all over the world from the ancient times till now. They should be good and easy to be memorized. The character of the articles must be good. The articles should not be too long. Altogether 100 items are selected, of which there are 40 poems, 30 Ci,30 proses. According to the above, we read widely and finally selected and translated 100 articles. Ling Yunling and Xie Changyi selected the poems, Li Aiping selected Ci, Li Yonghong selected the proses, all of them were translated by Chen Taoxiang. Li Aiping , Li Yonghong and Chen Taoxiang did the checking and the typing.
　　Yan Yunxia, the secretary and president of our institute and Zhou Jingping ,a vice president offered much advice, Li Jie and Liu Menglong also helped us a lot. We convey our heartfelt thanks to all of them.
